Pebbles bounced off his fingers as easily as if they were being skimmed across a placid mill pond, though instead of a fountain of water droplets they left grazes, spoiling the whiteness of his skin, before they crashed into the ocean below. The chain very definitely finished here, because the sea was roaring like a minotaur and hurling itself unreservedly against the cliffs, again and again, ice cold and more deadly than a knife to the heart. It was below Domino. Domino was hanging from a cliff face. His hands were slowly, gradually, bit by bit, but very definitely, slipping.

This, compared to what would happen next, was a good situation.
