Brief Author Bio:

Bahnree has written five novels so far, along with a plethora of short stories. Of these she has published none. She heard of NaNoWriMo too late in 2006 to participate, but created her own noveling-in-a-month event along with some friends in December. She's never writing a novel in December again. She managed to win NaNo in 2007 and 2008, and is aiming to do the same this year. She loves writing YA and/or fantasy and/or sci-fi.

Synopsis: Drem

They say it was my fault. They say I'm a traitor, a villain. I don't deny a word. But there's much more than mere treachery, mere villainy, to the story. Is there a story out there with just one point of view? A story with just a hero, and a villain, and what they did? In fairy tales, maybe. Not in my world.
My name is Drem Escalion. I was born in Evo, Altera, 31 years ago.
This is my story.

Excerpt: Drem

The newcomer stared at me. He was shorter than Hadric and I, but more filled out than me. His hair was mud brown and perhaps a little windblown. His eyes were round brown orbs.
“It’s true!” he shouted, jabbing a finger in my face as his own lit up. His face lit up, not his finger. “There is another street kid! I thought Vakko was making it up!”
“Vakko’s already spreading it around, huh?” Cho-Hadric said, apparently non-plussed at the invasion of his room.
My face, however, had darkened at the term “street kid” and I stepped toward the boy. Cho-Hadric jumped up and grabbed my shoulder.
“Easy, Cho-Drem. He’s, er, a street-kid too.”
“West Kreia,” the boy said, extending a hand. “Cho-Vad, atcher service.”
I took his hand. “Drem—Cho-Drem,” I said.
“Oh, that’s right!” he shouted again. “You don’t know about the honorifics, do you?” He glared at Cho-Hadric. “You should have told him right away!”
“We call other students by “cho,” and then their name,” Cho-Vad explained. “Or “cha,” if it’s a girl. We don’t have many of those,” he said, looking mournful, but soon brightened again. “And you call teachers Ko, or Ka, and then their name, and if it’s someone like Lord Akkaro, it’s Akkaro Sako, or Saka for a woman.” He took a breath. “But it’s just for inside the Seer Academy. If you’re Outside, you just call students by their name, teachers as Master or Madam, and Lords and Ladies Lords and Ladies.”
I realized my jaw was dropping and snapped it shut. I darted a glance at Cho-Hadric: his shoulders were shaking.
“I’ve heard the School of Change and the School of Weapons have completely different honorifics. But, you can call me Vad,” Cho-Vad finished at last. “And you can call him Hadric. Right Hadric?”
“Sure,” Hadric said, recovering.
“And we can call you Drem, right?” Vad asked, his brown eyes sparkling.
“Yes,” I said. What else could I possibly say?
Vad launched into another babble of explanations, descriptions, and suggestions. He apparently was already good friends with Hadric. And just like that, they were my friends too.
