Excerpt: Unnatural Selection

When Ben had found out about his mom’s secrets he had almost decided to let her live. She was stronger than he had given her credit for, but he was a stupid five year old and honestly believed his dad was strong and right for beating his mom. So he took the initiative and proved his own strength. Not that his dad would ever know what he had done, only the weak needed to brag and be recognized, like his stupid brother trying so hard to please the teachers, or his idiot father using his clout to brag to the entire town about his power. The truly strong just knew that they had the power, and they knew how to assert their power when it was needed. But most importantly the strong knew control, and that was one thing that his dad lacked.
