Brief Author Bio: I first joined NaNo in '07 because I was desperate to get a fresh start on a stalled story. I have this perpetual problem of conjuring up characters and worlds with no conflict in which to place them. Le sigh. I love to torture my characters a little too much and watch my villains merrily seek and destroy with glee *smiles*. On a more personal note, I live in the USA and it's election season (Go McCain!). I have two rambunctious kids that are 15 months apart so it is difficult to write at times. Gaming is the arch rival to my writing obsession. One day I hope to worm my way into the game industry and have the two live harmoniously. NaNo Works: |

Synopsis: Vampyres: Project Melaina
A generation has passed since humanity first burrowed underground because of the inhospitable surface, the result of a nuclear winter. After years of cybernetic and genetic engineering, a hodge-podge group of genetically manipulated individuals are sent above ground to set up base camp, explore their surroundings and report anything of value.
The explorers, after realizing all too late the defects of the genome that was inserted into them, wipe away all traces of their existence. After so many years without correspondence, the underground dwellers begin to refer to them as vampyres. Telling their children tall tales of the horrors that they will face should anyone try to resurface. That is all it is though, tall tales....
...until one day an AI unit called Wyrd, calculates the probability of the survival of those original explorers and what likely events may come about. Trying to cover up an special op gone wrong, another group is sent above ground to investigate into the matter and to find a girl the AI unit named "Melaina".
Author's Note: I know that the synopsis doesn't tell much. I've never been good at such. This particular story of mine is a futuristic interpretation of the Norse myth concerning Baldr.
