Synopsis: Freerun

Basically, it's my first contemporary novel, set 15 seconds into the future, about Evan, guy who hates his job, cynically drinks with his elderly neighbor every night, and realizes that adulthood just isn't what it's cracked up to be, when his friend from high school appears back into his life, fresh out of the Navy. Disillusioned from the same stories they grew up with, Matty resolves to get both Evan and himself back into the heroic roles movies and video games raised them to believe in.

The answer, obviously, is to become vigilantes, whether their city has a crime problem or not.

Inspired in equal parts by the comics Wanted and Kickass, as well as the novel Fight Club (but without Tyler Durden), and the movie Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, I'm pretty much setting myself up to try to succeed and fail miserably at the feet of my favorite material.

We'll see how it turns out.

The title, by the way, is still tentative, but as I'm doing a lot of research into freerunning for it, and it kind of describes the route that Matty and Evan take into becoming home-made superheroes, it's pretty apt.
