Excerpt:

There was a frantic banging on the door and Llyr rolled out of bed wondering who on earth was bothering him at this hour. He trudged towards the front door and threw it open only to find the second to last person he expected, or wanted, to see and she was holding a baby.

"What the hell are you doing here?" he growled.

"Please!" Loxy pleaded. "I know I've been horrible to you, but if you love me at all, you'll take her. Hide her somewhere safe. Keep her from them. Please." Tears were running down her face as she thrust the child towards him. Llyr grabbed the baby girl and took two steps back with a sneer on his face when the very last person he wanted to see came around the corner. The newcomer grabbed Loxy by the arm and tried to pull her away, but she shook him off. "Wait, Belenus," she whispered. She leaned towards Llyr. "Please. Promise me you'll take care of her. Please. Just … please. If you won't do it for me, do it for what we once had together. Take care of my Alysia." Llyr looked down at the small child in his arms and nodded. He would do what she asked, because, despite it all, he loved her still.

"Thank you," Loxy sobbed. "Thank you." Then she in Belenus took off into the night. Unfortunatly, they didn't get far.
