Excerpt: The Funeral Christmas Tree

I Know people must die sometime, but why do they have to have their funeral on the day of my book signing? Tapping my toe impatiently waiting for my turn in line at the grocery store when my phone starts to ring “Jingle Bells” my husband must have thought it would be cute to try to put some holiday spirit into me. Well, I don’t do Christmas, so mental note to safe: Slap Jack when I get home. The lady standing in front of me smiles at my Oh, so cute ring tone, that’s all I needed for someone to think I would really choose something so cheesy.
