Synopsis: In Their Eyes
Consider this: Angels are real, and not because God made them. They're humans, manipulated by humans, and everybody thinks that the experiment that made them was a disaster. They also think that sending the Angels into the sun killed them. Well, it didn't, because the sun happens to be the home of a Phoenix (god-type thing), and it was amused by the little things.
But that's a couple hundred years in the past. What's important is that they've been kidnapping children ever since, and training them. Not many children; maybe just one or two a year, but that's enough. Adrian, the son of two Ganymede dancers, is one of those who gets kidnapped.
This story is his story. From the day he lost his father until the day he dies, this is his story. And it's about his reactions to the Phoenix and the Angels, about his life, and about a child who is effectively his son.
In Their Eyes. A title that fits so perfectly, simply because of who Adrian is. In the eyes of the Angels, he is a child who can't control himself. In the eyes of the spacers, he is one of the most competent captains. In the eyes of his almost-son, he is a father and teacher. And in his own eyes? He is someone who can never do quite the right thing.
In Their Eyes. There is no good way to sum it up, but I've done my best.
