Synopsis: Strips of Ransom
Charles Dean Wippett anxiously awaited the day that he could finally leave his parents' steel grasp. Going to an elite Ivy League college to study engineering like his father, Charles felt more ready than ever when the graduation made its curtain call. Yet, adulthood's number failed to grace him until July 12.
Still in his parent's hold, Charles is forced--in a sense--to attend a character-building program for the entire month of June. If anyone outside of the Wippetts' home gazed into the situation, he or she might call this a throwing down of the gauntlet. Charles' parents wish to see their money not put to waste, and unless their son goes to this program, he can kiss his ticket to college goodbye.
Now, Charles is faced with the prospect of truly roughing it--no modern indulgences are allowed at this program. All for the student's benefit, so the pamphlet states. Will he learn how to be a honest functioning human through the trials, or will he allow his weaknesses cause his "failure to launch"?
