Twilight's Calling
an excerpt
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwnnnn!!!" As they went. They had found various things to fight with and it included some of the elders and Kurei and many of Syk's old friends and Raessa's old friends too. The demons began to fight a valiant battle. But it would no longer work like that. Syk felt a strange tingle all through her veins. She tried to keep battling but she couldn't move. She was parlayzed and sat in the dirt on her knees, angry tears running down her face, she yelled out to herself,
"Why can't I move?!" She needed to finish this battle! The demons all turned to her, the humans fighting for her fought harder, knowing that if they didn't the humans would overcome her and kill her. The demons were to distracted and wanted to see what was happening with Syk. It was dark now and the sun was gone. She curled up for it was all she could do, as close to the ground, it suddenly had a great gravitational pull on her. She couldn't move, tears poured down her cheeks, she needed to fight. Urian came to her side for a moment, but then began to fight harder than he ever could have under normal circumstances. He was five times as fast as before and took out many men as Syk suffered on the ground. She began to glow with a strange aura. She felt an horrible pressure pressing her from the inside out, making her feel like she was going to burst. Raessa called out to her,
"Syk! We need to use our magic! We need to use it to cause a great rainstorm, it could work to our advantage!" Syk could barely hear Raessa over the pain and the pressure. She looked up at the sky that looked nonsensical now. Nothing made sense. She began to scream, not able to open her mouth. But she tried, the magic couldn't escape. Syk couldn't work her magic. In her head a phrase was whispered continually,
"Twilight is coming, twilight is coming." Syk went into a trance, burying herself deep in the deep voice that was a woman's low voice. The voice seemed to be trying to speak so that no one else could hear her. No one else was reacting strangely, though, so it was in Syk's head. Syk closed her eyes to the world. She couldn't bear to look at it when she needed to be helping fighting.
The humans had sent off several more flare guns, there were several burning trees, and one that fell and killed several enemy humans and many of Syk's crew. The war continued on through the chilly night, horrid scenes there. Urian stabbed man after man, Raessa continually hit people with the shovel. Marc continued on through all of the enemies, shooting them down as fast as they poured into the clearing. Some kind of power had taken over the minds there and they fought hard and long, many bearing cuts from swords and knifes, some bearing and hole from a gun shot. The smell of gun fire and blood filled the air. Someone from way back behind everyone had fashioned a bow and arrow somehow and was now shooting the men from afar with a very good shot. Robert could not fight, though, his heart was too kind and full of real honor for that. He hid in fetal position, hugging his knees close. He had vomited all over the ground in front of him. He had killed one man and thrown up his late dinner. Tears were strewn across his face. A strong wind began to blow, the medic looked up towards the sky as he was bandaging someone's injured leg behind a bush. His long, dirtied hair was swept by the building breeze. Then began a violent torrent of wind. Raessa thought that maybe her sister was using her magic. Raessa focused her magic into her hands and raised them, focusing on a storm. Inside Syk's head was now screaming,
"TWILIGHT IS COMING!! TWILIGHT IS COMING!" Syk screamed louder, the words filling her ears and she couldn't think, it was too loud, too distracting from the real world and the horrid scene in front of her now. The words pounded into her brain, louder, louder. Twilight was coming. And the rain began. Her blood pulsed with the words. The rain was a cold like they had never experienced, it sent shivers up their backs and it was colder than they could have imagined. It drenched them in a matter of seconds. But the humans weren't wet. They were just feeling miserable and cold. They felt that their body was moist but it wasn't. They all confused their mind trying to figure it out. Syk's body raised up off the groud slowly, but she did not feel that she was controlling it. She merely looked fearfully down from her position in the sky. The sun had begun to rise. The skyline was turning a bit blue. The torrent of violent winds got worse, even worsened by the cold rain. Lightning began. It struck trees, setting more on fire, making them lose all of their branches and leaves. The fire caught along the grasses, but only around the battlement area. No more enemies could enter, but they had all stopped their combat to look at Syk. She glowed brighter now. Her eyes held the saddest look that ever a face could behold. There was a sad grimace on her face, a grimace of pain. The pressure was still there. She thought she was going to go deaf from the loudness of the words,
"Twilight is coming." It seemed to be a chorus of other voices now. Syk tried to say,
"Help me!!!" But nothing came out. She couldn't even get her mouth open to say anything. There was only a mumbling sound coming from inside her mouth. She began to shiver violently, and Raessa had tears pouring down her face too, as well as Urian and Marc. The chanting in Syk's brain continued. The gleam of light around her continued until it became the lightning. The electricity gathered around her body, the static making her hair flow outwards. The lighting was hitting the humans uncontrollably. All of them were just on the verge of death. The sun wasn't at twilight position yet.
