In the parking lot, she looked over at him coldly. “I’m not getting into a car with you.”
He shook his head. “I wasn’t going to ask you to. If your father is anything to go by, you’re a smart cookie with a survival instinct a mile wide.”
“I try. But it’s funny you should mention my father. He and I aren’t on speaking terms.”
“I know. He’s… Your father has gone missing, and I have reason to believe you may become a target. You are hard to find, I’ll give you that, but I still found you, and that gives me reason enough for concern.” He grabbed her arm, spinning her abruptly to face him. “You need to run. And don’t go somewhere predictable, like Greece.”
“Where should I – wait, why should I trust you?” She tried to pull her arm free, ready to bolt.
“I’m Miller. And I can’t tell you where to go, I can’t KNOW where you go. Just go. Don’t tell anyone, don’t trust anyone, not even me. Can you do that?” He shook her arm slightly for emphasis.
She nodded, “I’ll go. Thank you.” He released her, and she turned to go. “Wait—Miller? Not Ben Miller?”
“Not in this lifetime. Good luck Cassia Winters.” He turned and left her, frightened and confused with no clear course of action, standing alone in the busy parking lot.
