Brief Author Bio: I'm Nikki! :) I'm a high school senior who probably should be working on her school work than writing. I think I'm a rather unintersting person, so I don't know what else I can say. This is my third year competeing in NaNo. Hopefully, I'll finish this year. The last two years I didn't even pass the 25k mark! ...Or the 15k mark. ; A; I really do hope I can this year... |

Synopsis: Parallel
"You have a choice: either form a contract with me or we die."
Zach Hays was just your normal high school student. But, one day when almost everyone in one of his classes disappears during the middle of a test, the only logical answer is that he's dreaming. So, when the only other person to remain in the classroom gives Zach the choice forming a mysterious "contract" with her or dying, he accepts, thinking that since it's a dream nothing will come of it.
But, naturally, he's wrong. Turns out the contract he agreed to enables psychic powers in him. Looks like Zach's not just your normal high school student any more.
Excerpt: Parallel
Am I just imagining things? I look back down to my desk to continue working on my test only to find that now it’s gone. Did Ms. Wright take my test away when I wasn’t looking because I was looking at the other students? It’s not like I was cheating, I was just looking to see if they noticed the freaky lights…
The lights flicker once more. And then I realize something. Whenever the lights did something like this in the past, at least one of the girls would scream or freak out. It’s far too silent in this room. I look around again and find that, just like my test, my classmates are gone as well. I look towards the teacher’s desk to find that even Ms. Wright is gone. Okay. This is just getting weirder and weirder. My head turns slightly and I come to realize that I’m not entirely alone. The only person remaining in the room, other than me, happens to be Kira, who is no longer hunched over her desk. Has her test disappeared too? The lights flicker one final time, and this time, they remain off. I’m getting really freaked out now. What’s going on? In front of me Kira, herself, is looked around a bit wildly.
Finally, I manage to whisper her name, “Kira…?”
She whips around to face me, her eyes wide with surprise. “What are you…?”
She trails off. Kira goes back to looking around the room. I think she knows just as well as I do that no one’s there. She stands up and stares at me, brows furrowed in obvious concentration.
Then, it hits me like a ton of bricks. I must be dreaming. That’s the only logical explanation for this. But me and her suddenly alone in a dark classroom, this can’t seriously be one of those dreams…
In the distance, I hear what sounds like an explosion and Kira’s attention immediately turns to that. I blink. What’s going on? Granted, I rarely ever know what’s going on in my dreams, but it’s never this bad… Especially when I know it’s a dream.
Suddenly, Kira reaches out and grabs my wrist, yanking me out of my seat. I protest, “Hey! What’s going on?”
She doesn’t answer me and starts pulling me towards the door, “Shut up! Run!”
I’m about to ask why when one of the walls explode. Okay. Exploding walls is a good reason to run.
