Polarity
an excerpt
The bottle of wine had been finished. Saftie was drunk. She could feel her drunkenness in her limbs, her head, but most of all she could feel it in her stomach. The woozy, jumping feeling she got when Lanex put his hand on her knee, laughing at some awful joke she had just made.
The shy, broody Lanex seemed to have suddenly disappeared, and the small room was filled with jokes and laughter and touching. Lanex touched her knee. Saftie poked his stomach, making him laugh and grab her and tickle her until she was almost crying.
“Please Lanex! Stop! I take it back! I take it back! You’re not grumpy! You’re just”
Suddenly they were nose to nose, eye to eye. Saftie could feel how much she wanted this strange man. She wanted him more than any other man, any other thing she’d ever wanted before.
“Just... What?” Lanex said, seductively.
“Just you.” Saftie pulled him down. Lanex’s heart thumped in his stomach, full of alcohol and lust and laughter. Had he ever felt like this before? She was so close. He could smell her hair. He was close enough to just reach out and...
Lanex closed the gap and their lips met. Saftie tasted of soft and of sweet and of cherry tinted red wine. Lanex tasted like summer days spent lying in the grass and of winter nights curled up, enjoying a warm body and kindred soul next to you. Saftie tasted... Divine. This was wrong. Lanex pulled away suddenly.
“We’re both getting carried away. We should rest.” With herculean effort, Lanex lifted his heavy body off of the blonde’s bed, and on to his own. Sleep did not come easily.
