The dust cloaked windows strained to pass sunlight into the vast space of the chapel. Broken wooden pews skewed outward, its jutting pieces a hazard to any who walked by without caution of his surroundings. Grotesque holes had formed in the high arch, causing most of the wood interior to deteriorate and making it virtually impossible to repair the damage. Songs of prayer no longer wafted up the high ceiling. Now rather, it seemed as though the structure itself moaned and cried in pain with every creak of the wood and shudder of the roof.
