Small Time Flies
an excerpt
“You” said Pede Cuctos looking down at the truck and putting his hands on his hips “are wasting my time.”
The front of the truck was sunk low, up to the axle in the mud. Pede Cuctos felt the weariness creep up on him as he gave an enormous sigh. Picking up a flat rock he stepped forward to release the truck.
“Bloody piece of metal had to get stuck on the line.”
The front of the truck was low in the soggy mud while the backside sat high and dry across the line. Determined Pede Cuctos got down on his knees in the mud, jamming the flat rock under the left front wheel.

"Well you see Ponk" Lebibrity slunk around putting her arm around Ponks broad shoulders, speaking confidentially "It is very, very important that I speak to Pede. You would never know what I found in the Library."
Ponk knew he would never know because he couldn't read, and even if he could have read there was no blood left in his brain to power any reading ability at the moment anyway. So he just kind of grunted.
"There's this old book, a very old book. But it has stuff in about what is happening now."
"Like a pro-pro..."
Yes, like a prophecy. And it not only has stuff in about know. It has stuff in about specific people. About Pede..." Lebirbity whispered the last word as a sweet whif into Ponk's ear.
"So Pede is very old?"
"No Ponk, the book is old, and Pede is in it."
"Du-du...I don't get it."
"Good" said Lebibrity, very please with her explanation or something "That is why I need to speak to Pede. Tell him, I'm looking for him."
