Synopsis: To See the Sun
He's already killed her husband . . . now he's closing in on her—and her unborn baby.
"Mrs. MacIntyre, I'm afraid there's been an accident . . ."
Justin MacIntyre's fatal crash sinks a pregnant Erin into deep depression. After two months in seclusion in Switzerland, Erin returns to Las Vegas only to find that someone has broken into her condo. But nothing appears to have been stolen. Just senseless destruction. Why?
Then Erin learns that Clay Buchanan is back in town. Her old flame who'd disappeared after her betrayal. What was he doing here now, after seven years? Clay, now a PI, claims Justin contacted him to investigate his own company, but Erin refuses to believe him. Justin would have said something. He told her everything. Didn't he?
Erin mistrusts Clay until he tells her about an anonymous tip: Justin's death was no accident.
Erin and Clay team up with Erin's father-in-law to do some digging into the company records. They unearth a twisted chain of events starting with the death of Erin's parents. As they work to assemble all the pieces, time is running out for Erin and her unborn child.
Someone wants her dead.

TO SEE THE SUN – 2ND HALF PEGGY BLANN PHIFER
"Doug, I found something." Clay burst through the open door to Doug's office and stopped in his tracks as he came face to face with Erin, her face streaked with recent tears. After a glance at Doug's face, Clay realized he'd broken in on a private conversation.
"Uh, sorry." He backed out into the hall. "I'll come back later."
"Wait, Clay," Erin called out, a waver in her voice that ripped at Clay's heart. "It's okay. I was just leaving, anyway."
Clay swung back where Erin stood in the doorway. He could no longer see her face, silhouetted as she was against the brightness of the afternoon sun streaming through the windows behind her. She brushed past him, the soft slap-slap of her sandals fading down the hall. He resisted the impulse to rush after her. Some instinct told him she would not welcome him right now.
"Come on in, Clayton."
Despite Doug's invitation, Clay didn't move until Erin disappeared from view. Then he turned to Doug. "Is she okay?"
"She will be." Doug waved him into the office. "Now, son, what did you find that brought you rushing through that door?"
Clay drew in a breath and entered the office. "I'm sorry I interrupted you, Doug. I didn't know she was here." He had to shift mental gears . . . away from Erin . . . to the situation at hand. Doug waited. Clay inhaled.
"To the best of your knowledge, Doug, when was the last time Justin was in his office?" Clay could almost see the slideshow of memories as they flickered across Doug's expressive face.
"I can't say for sure, Clayton." Doug hauled in a breath, and then another, deeper gasp for life-giving air. "I'd thought it was that Friday morning, before—"
"It wasn't," Clay broke in. "At least not from what I've discovered these last few days."
