Tenoe is the second son of the Lord of Torowind. An attempt is made on his life, but he is saved by Seirei, a young demoness (a non-human outcast). On a whim, he introduces her to his court. Moroku is Tenoe's best friend and protector. While originally quite skitish about Seirei, he eventually comes to accept her. Tenoe is obsessed with Moroku, whom he considers to be friend and toy all in one. He takes it upon himself to keep Moroku entertained, regardless of whether Moroku appreiciates his efforts or not. However, Tenoe finds his games becoming more difficult as Seirei develops real feelings for Moroku. When there is another attempt on Tenoe's life, Moroku protects him but is badly injured. Tenoe's father takes away all of his new found freedoms on diplomatic life. Angered by Seirei's ability to leave behind the situation at her will, Tenoe convinces his father to banish her. Seirei tries to convince Moroku to come with her. When forced to make a decision, will Moroku choose Duty at his Lord's side or Love with an Outcast?
