Synopsis: The Whispering Dam
After fleeing first France, then Ireland, a young woman finds herself struggling in 1820's Upper Canada to survive. Overcoming abduction, racism and inequality, she inluences the lives and future of the building of the Rideau Canal, it's community and the ultimately the future of women in Canada. The Whispering Dam was the largest and most monumental undertaking of it's time by John Redpath and Colonel John By. It became Marjolaine's source of inspiration and hope. But like the dam, her impact in Canada's history was soon minimalized and forgotten. This is her story.
