If Wishes Were Horses
an excerpt
From there on out, the group found plenty of signs of the disturbance. Aamas, a clumsy boy and blacksmith’s apprentice woke up to find all this digits had been replaced with thumbs. They say his quality of work has not gone down, but that was not saying an awful lot.
Thelma, the midwife, was helping a wealthy patron through child birthing. Thelma swears that as soon as the child was out, the mother turned a most brilliant blue, and in the mouth of the babe was a spoon wrought of silver with golden inlays. The newborn relinquished the utensil to issue its first wail. The madam was not so easily cured. The pigmentation would not be removed though scrubbing, tinctures or even well wishes. It was not harmful, but neither was it aesthetically pleasing.
The young lovers Saul and Amanda were seen walking together in the park, as was their usual. They strode with their feet in the air and heads toward the ground, which was not. Reports claim they were too preoccupied to notice; however, Saul displayed his typical chivalry and help up a low branch so Amanda could step under it.
Felix Rathorn –assistant manager of the local office of Stol and Pilford Merchandise- was praising a new proposal set forth by his boss. Unbeknownst to him, as he spoke, his nose grew darker. And darker. And darker. By the time his speech came to a close, his olfactory was the same color as well polished mahogany.
These are just a few of the incidents our heroes ran into that afternoon. They were inconvenient, but for the most part they were more of an odd nature than happenings of grave consequence. As always in circumstances such as these, there were some that were less mild.
