Brief Author Bio: My name is Nicole, I live in Washington state and I hope to be a [published] author one day. Till then I'll run around with a pencil, scribbling notes on random people as they pass by and wondering where my notes have gone afterwards.. I discovered Nano back in '07, won, (along with my best friend) and I've been hooked ever since. |

Excerpt: 13th Signet
The town, once bustling with life, was a wilted flower. Rain poured down. Water cascaded down the empty streets and every door was closed.
The female walked down the center, boots clapping the wet ground.. clap, clap, clap, clap.....
.... she heard an inhale to the right, and turned. There was the sound of a stumble and a panicked gasp, followed by a loud crash.
The female, with brows raised, slowly walked into the alley. She stopped then, blinking down at the small, shoddy figure, currently sprawled in the center. He was drenched, frightened looking and had just tipped over a canister of garbage that was now drowning him in a plethora of leftover food. He groaned, trying to wipe it off his shirt, but when he saw her he sprung to his feet and stumbled back. “We don’t WANT anymore..” He said, shaking his head and holding his hands up. “Just.. just leave us ALONE.”
“Who came?” she murmured, staring at him.
“He.. he.. did.. him and .. his others..”
“I am not an other.” The girl’s face drew a frown, and the boy blinked at her, steadily.
“Then what are you?”
.. She shrugged then, shaking her head. “Not sure there’s a word for it.”
