Brief Author Bio: I have been a writer since I was twelve, but I've been a storyteller all my life. Twenty-two moves through my youth gave me ample opportunities to see the world, experience people and cultivate a highly (sometimes overly) active imagination; thus, the fantasy genre called out to me, demanding my attention. Story ideas haunt me in the night. Characters demand birth. And I love every disturbing moment of it. |

Synopsis: Prince of Rokahn
Brilliant and angry sixteen-year-old Mike is determined to finish the work begun by his murdered parents: leading a rebel army against the tyrannical king Nicolas, ruler of Avery, pinnacle of the world Oceana. But amid the bloody conflict, Mike must cope with a new revelation that leaves him with a deep and personal problem: he isn't from the country he's trying to change. He isn't even from that world.
Led by a vague set of instructions and a peculiar creature named Ter, Mike desperately tries to resolve his personal conflict at the same time that he searches for the prince of Rokahn, the one man who might be able to help him save a world he's not even really a part of. This journey will lead Mike, along with his twin sister, beyond Oceana, into a magical world known as the birthplace of all magic: Sirinhigha.
Excerpt: Prince of Rokahn
The flames rose higher and higher, red embers floating like burning snow, caught on the wind then sent flipping and twirling in little whirlwinds until they dissolved as they touched the snow-covered ground. The dark sky above was covered with winter clouds stained a glowing red from the merciless fire.
Mike's twin sister had wrapped her arms around him, and she was sobbing into his shoulder, her whole body trembling with cold and shock and loss. He was barely conscious of her presence, frozen as he was with the horror before him. Already the fire was wild, too far along to be stopped. The roof of the house had mostly collapsed, and one wall was threatening to fall inward.
Only then did Mike stir, realizing with a terrible jolt that if the roof finished falling inward, or if the teetering wall crumbled, his parents could never come out.
He shoved his sister aside, hardly conscious of doing so, and ran toward the burning structure, screaming incomprehensible words. Before he could reach the blazing furnace, he was seized by a firm hand and forced to halt. He tried with all his might to break free, but the grip never weakened, and he was dragged backward out of harm's way.
“It's too late, Mike,” came the familiar voice of Penn. “You can't save them.”
