an excerpt
After several more moments of silence, Lorelei finally sighed as if greatly pained and unfolded her long body into an upright position. She was wearing very little clothing – only a tiny tank top and gym shorts that periodically flashed her underwear – and her skin and elbows and smelly feet were everywhere. She was like one of the spiders that sometimes appeared uninvited in Connie's bathtub and lay drowned and dying underneath a congealed bar of soap, spindly appendages splayed in every direction.
Connie knew that surely, Lorelei's bathtub never harbored spiders. The housekeeper and her bottle of bleach made sure of that.
