Brief Author Bio: I've always loved writing. As a kid I was always writing - in class, after school. I fell away from it for quite a few years as an adult, but a few years ago I started writing again, prolifically. If I wasn't somewhere I could physically write, I was thinking about my stories and shaping them in my head. And then I went back to college and put my fiction aside as other things came to the fore. I decided to do NaNo as a way of bringing myself back to that point where I was writing thousands of words a day and loving it. And as soon as I decided to do it, I got this wild surge of creativity. And then NaNo started. I think I've resented it since day two. I could write when I forced myself, but I found myself thinking of every excuse under the sun to avoid writing. If I'm working hard to avoid writing, then writing isn't something I need to be doing right now. I'm being creative in other ways - building in Second Life, even working on stories other than my NaNo novel. I suppose in the end I just hate being pressured to do things, even when the pressure is well-meant, even when the person doing the pressuring is myself. NaNoWriMo, thanks for being there. And to all you continuing NaNoists, good fortune and enjoy the trip. |
