Other Side 'Verse
an excerpt

Hulls of dead ships floated like ghosts in a vast cloud of space dust. The ships were Leviathans, semi-sentient vessels, that came to this place at the very reaches of Peacekeeper territory to die. It was somewhere that the military force that controlled much of this sector of the galaxy avoided, for even hardened soldiers could have superstitions and the Peacekeepers did make slaves of Leviathans. So it made a good place for someone who didn’t always transport things she should and who wished to avoid contact with Peacekeepers to come to hide.

A small ship dropped out of hyperspace right in the centre of the nebula. Its sleek silver lines were unmarked, the vessel built for stealth and speed. It came to a complete stop, becoming one with the other drifting ships.

Ellandra Skye stood at the helm watching the readouts intently. There was no sign of the Command Carrier that had sent its Prowlers after her. Not that she expected any really, not since the Prowlers didn’t have hyperdrive, but long experience in evading the Peacekeepers had taught her that it was better to be overly cautious than caught.
