The Shadow Game Cycle
an excerpt
Was this a dream or was this real? Everything was so crazy lately she couldn’t tell. As much as she had loved watching anime and other crazy shows in her life, she had not truly entertained the notion it could. She didn’t want it to happen. It was simply an escape from reality.
Reality. She had never really been part of it in the first place but now it was much stranger than before. It was almost like there were two of her. One was seventeen and apparently the last Princess of Atlantean royalty who undoubtedly had a wonderful adventure ahead of her.
Or was she a twelve year old loner whose greatest fun was writing fan fiction and manipulating her psychologists? She’d been diagnosed with everything from Asperger’s syndrome to ‘bad behavior’.
Here two selves did have something in common though. They were both incredibly smart, if she did say so herself… themselves… whatever. And both wanted to continue the adventure, despite the fact that at leats one self must be contrived from somewhere. Logically, the magic princess was the more likely choice to be labeled ‘not real’, but who cared? This game was fun. And if she avoided the plot maybe she could play forever! Never have to return to the grind.
Here she was old enough, almost, to make her own decisions. Her brother, Trick, was hot. Her grandfather was young enough to have fun and not get in her way anymore. Yes, this could be just what she needed.
