Sanctuary in the Void [working title]
an excerpt
A pleasant numbness settled over her mind. ‘Who am I…? Where am I?’ The only thing she could recall was that she was trying to become vertical. That involved moving. It was difficult. Vision swayed, and out of some deep instinct, she moved one of the odd upper limbs to cling desperately to a protruding stone. ‘Stone. I think - I think it might be pretty.” Sparks flew through her mind. ‘No!’ she actually shouted aloud, though she had no idea how she had formed this word. ‘I must remember!’ Grasping the protruding stone, she went over all of the thoughts she could recall, and came to a conclusion of sorts. ‘I am in a stone building, naked. I can’t remember who I am. I can’t remember any part of my life until now. And my mind is trying to forget things.’
