Behind The Counter
an excerpt

Kate was pointing out various ridiculously expensive items she was going to ask her parents for, and Candice just wished she could afford something along those lines one day. She made herself feel better by reasoning that nobody in their right mind would spend $350 on a journal from Hermes, when you could get one for $20 at Myer. She voiced this opinion, and received a very miffed look from Kate.
‘My dad bought me a Hermes journal last year. The one you said you liked?’
‘I meant someone in their right mind on a wage like mine.’ Candice covered quickly. Kate settled back into a more content expression, and serenely went back to pointing out dresses she liked that cost more than Candice’s car had.
