Synopsis: Eternity Past Lost
A young man with superpowers finds himself lost and without important memories.
Excerpt: Eternity Past Lost
He opened his eyes in pain to a bright white light. Strange shapes moved above him.
Please make it stop. He thought in agony.
He inhaled fearfully. Why was he still here? Shouldn’t he be dead? Shouldn’t his mind have gone into the dark black nothingness of death? He was still alive. And he was crying.
“Shhhh…” A soft female voice from above him said chidingly. “You will be fine, human. Be still…”
He somehow found comfort in the voice that was not human. He couldn’t see her, but she was some purring species. His depression returned through his pain and squinted eyes hiding from the light. He cried out, “Just let me die!”
The shapes above him pulled back from him as if struck. They left him alone for long moments as he drank in painful breaths, tears still falling.
The voice of the creature from before returned. “You are no human… You are a Special. You are a Chosen… Are you the one that is missing? What is your name? Answer me.” The lady creature’s purring was loud, but her tone was firm.
He wished he could just die. Who needed his name when he wanted away. Where was the end of the end? Why didn’t he run into something? Where had he landed? Why was he here?!?!?
Her voice came again, “Answer me.”
“Wes.” He sobbed to her. He wanted to pass out or something. Every part of him hurt and cried for death.
The creatures surrounding him started growling lowly. The growling made no difference to him. They could do whatever they wanted. They still had life and a purpose that made sense. He didn’t.
The lady creature’s voice came nearer through the bright light and the growling. “You will rest. When you are revived, we will finish healing your wounds.”
Wes moaned. “Just… let… me… die…” His breath was getting tense and impossible. His chest hurt badly… As well as everything else. All he could understand was his own misery.
“Forgive me, Ke’vle.” Her voice was sympathetic.
He squinted open his eyes to see her shape lean over him in the bright white light down toward his neck. He felt a sharp pain on his neck that didn’t release but grew as he breathed. It caught his breath and then caused him to cry out.
His world went dark.
