Things are different now. Nuclear war is no longer a threat, and prosthetic limbs have been upgrade to entire bodies. The bridge between biological and digital signals has been crossed; Life has changed for the better, and for the worse. Viruses are no longer biological; remnants of the flu and cold have been removed from society, replaced with malicious programs that can do almost anything from retrieve information directly from your brain, to control you like a marionette. Firewalls, infinitely superior to the primitive ones of the end of the 20th Century are your immune system. But as always, no system is ever truly perfect.

Kaecyus learned this at a young age. Being a hacker, he landed himself in trouble in revenge for the loss of his Father at the hands of World War IV. Faced with a choice of exposure, or service, he becomes the puppet rather than the puppeteer. Wars were fought secretly; the media on a short leash from the government. Changed by War in his Youth, he is changed once more, but on a more potent level. He is sick of being told to jump, and asking how high. The ties that bind are about to be broken.

It's high time he cut the strings above him.
