Excerpt: The Lonely Road, Task Force125: American Swift book #4
Jason stepped out of the Range Rover and walked around the back. He offered a handshake. "Stanstead?"
Stanstead looked him over, nodded and returned the gesture.
"I'm Jason." Jason took the man's bags and placed them in the back of the truck while Stanstead got in the passenger seat.
Jason hopped back in the driver's seat and exited the terminal area quickly.
"So are you the guy I'm relieving?"
"Nah." Jason shrugged. "I'm just muscle and odd jobs." He took a glance at the man's profle. "So what's your background?"
Stanstead turned a bored scowl at Jason. "Its okay. I'm fine without the smalltalk."
Rather than be offended, Jason was impressed. He stifled a grin and drove the rest of the way in satisfied silence.
