“What’s the matter with you?” Sarah asked as Nick sat down hard in his chair.

“Nothing. Leave me alone.”

“Fine. You’re an ass,” Sarah added.

“I know. Die, bitch.”

Sarah rose from her desk to go to the bathroom, and maybe buy a Snickers. Being angry made her hungry. She looked in the mirror and adjusted her clothing. Then she adjusted her hair.

“What the fuck was up with him? And why the fuck was he taking it out on me?” she wondered.

Although she knew it wasn’t the most intelligent thing in the world, she really wanted Nick to like her. She was enamored with him, and had been working to get him to really notice her for weeks now.

“Well, he’ll never like you fat,” she said to her reflection. On the way back to her desk, she opted to pass up the vending machine containing the Snickers.

“You can wait until tomorrow, you cow,” she thought.
