Rising From The Ashes
an excerpt

“I know who you are,” Count Atroxamor stated. “Why don’t you put the gun down so we can talk calmly.”
“I don’t want to talk calmly,” Dorian replied, dead-pan. “I want to keep my gun and I want to fill your body with lead and send it back to the Alwaysnever. Or make your explode. Or keep you and torture you brutally.”
“Is this supposed to make me drop my gun?” Atroxamor asked idly.
“No. It’s supposed to make you get the hell away from me, but it’s apparently not working, or maybe you’re just plain thick.”
Atroxamor raised an eyebrow.
“Look, what do you want, and how long will it take?”
“I want you to end the mess that you started.” Atroxamor’s voice was no longer quiet, or calm.
“WHAT MESS? WHAT BLOODY MESS?” Dorian cursed. “Protecting myself from your friends? That is not a mess, it’s something called self-defense! Because I like living, believe it or not, and I have as much of a right to stay alive as you do, even if you don’t believe that!”
“Not that mess. They’re not my friends, they’re Rubies, and believe me, I wanted to see them dead as much as you did. THE WAR.”
“How is the war my fault? I did nothing. You bloody idiots STARTED the war and now you dragged everyone else into it! Of course, the world does revolve around you guys, naturally. Not like anyone else’s lives matter. I just got shot this morning, and I can barely go outside without someone trying to tie me up and kill me. And those are humans! That’s not to mention what your lot did.”
“MY LOT? Hardly my lot! There’s more than one type of vampyre, if you didn’t notice! We did NOT start the war, it was your fault.”
“HOW SO?” Dorian exploded.
“Two words. Thomas. Rowley.” The words were full of complete and utter loathing, red hot and furious, so angry that Dorian swore that if that person, if that Thomas was there, Atroxamor would have shot him in a split second.
