Excerpt:
I wake up to find my head aching, my stomach growling, and Liam’s head on my shoulder. I quickly try to shove his head to the side so that it would be off of me as quickly as possible, but it kept falling back on to my shoulder.
“Well at least he is not snoring,” I mumble, happy he is not drooling either.
I pull my hair back in to a pony tail and check the time. Not very late in the day yet. I find quickly that I am starving, so I decide to eat my orange that I had brought with me this morning. The smell of citrus is strong as I start to un-peel the orange, which smells good. Liam’s head starts to bob as he wakes up. I know it is the citrus fruit smell that woke him up because he wakes up sniffing around. As he takes his head off my shoulder, it instantly feels better.
“You have a heavy head,” I say as he rubs the sleep out of his eyes.
He smiles like he is proud of his heavy head, then looks down at my orange and licks his lips. “That smells good,” he says.
“Want half?” I ask as I finish peeling my citrus fruit.
“Okay,” he says, “Thanks.”
We both sit there quietly eating my orange. Happy to have food in our system after a semi long flight.
