Synopsis:
Well, it has a Planetarium in it. Oh, and a machine that could turn Earth into one of Jupiter's moons. Or maybe it could do something even worse. By the way, the beginning isn't too good.
Excerpt:
Fin bit his lip in anticipation. He hadn’t been kidnapped, just hidden in one of the only places that nobody would look: the basement. The only way that anybody would even think of going downstairs was if there were technical difficulties, or if a new planet or star had to be made. And knowing how careful his family was, that would not be for a long time. At least I’m still in the building. It could be a lot worse.
Oh, obviously he was tied up. In reality, though, he was chained. His hands were tied together using the standard rope, but his wrists were secured using a small, coiled chain. His feet had been fastened to two separate poles, but not too far apart to be extremely uncomfortable.
Inside, however, he was panicking like nobody’s business. What if nobody finds me in time and I starve to death, or die from dehydration? I don’t think I could handle that. Ooh…it would be terrible to die from hypothermia.
It was indeed very chilly in the basement; heating was expensive, and seeing as nobody really when down in the basement, the only type of heating or air conditioning was upstairs, where it counted. This didn’t scare Fin nearly as much as what he overheard when he was being carried downstairs, though.
He had woken up shaking, with many questions in his mind. As soon as he had awoke, he overheard them talking about where a machine was. There had been two voices; one was gruff and masculine, with the other calm, scary, and female.
The first voice was the masculine one. “You sure it’s in the closet?”
“As sure as I am alive.” The tone those words were said chilled him to the bone.
