an excerpt
The beginning of the most dreaded day of my life began with a knock on my bed-room door.
“Honey! We have a lot to do today! Hurry and get dressed!”
I rolled out of bed and hit the floor with a thump. Why must the floor be so cruel? My miniature mutt, ChiChi, came over to give me my good-morning kisses. “Hey, baby,” I pulled the puppy into a hug. She was only a year old, but she wasn’t going to get much taller than she already was, a foot. Her ears were ragged-looking and she had long fur, but she was so cute all the same.
I stood with ChiChi in hand, and prepared to face the world. My computer came on with a bright blue light and annoyingly loud voice. “You’ve got mail,” it said.
“I bet I do,”
I opened the first thing to pop up. It was from my BFF, Alison.
“heyheyhey! good morning! wazzup sunshine?”
I typed a quick reply
“NOT a good morning!! a BAD morning remember?
PS: lets get on aim”
It only took 4 seconds for Ally to send an IM, along with a request for a camera-conversation.
“whys today bad??
PS: accept the camera thing”
I did. As I turned on my video camera and microphone my screen flickered black and blue while Ally picked up her already-on camera from where ever she had dropped it. She turned it so I wasn’t looking at her stain-less carpet anymore, and instead I saw her elegant face.
“Sorry!” came her muffled voice. She still wasn’t facing her microphone. “I dropped it!”
She set it back above her computer so I was looking down at her. My camera was like-wise positioned.
“Now why is today a bad day?” She asked.
I sighed “Don’t you remember? You couldn’t come over to my house yesterday because we were packing!”
She gasped “No! Its not today is it?! I thought it was, like, next week! Or month!”
“Oh yes, its today,”
