Synopsis: Deeper than Divined
Rather than sitting by as their predecessors did, Elisud and Arianrhod feel they must remove the slowly invading Kransnens from Eidran, and protect their people. This does not sit well with most of the nobility, and Arianrhod is stuck in Serengar arguing while Elisud tries to sort out the logistics of handling an army in Trahaearn and creating a force capable of handling new weapons.
To make matters worse, neither truly understands or trusts the other, despite their new marriage and ruling alliance. When Elisud leaves for the far west in order to talk with reluctant Eidri, Arianrhod allows his absence to be her excuse for silence, and keeps her pregnancy secret.
Although both are attempting to learn the landsense, the traditional ability to sense movements within all Eidran, neither realizes the extent of the Krasnen forces until the enemy attacks along the entire southern border. Eidran’s forces are overwhelmed, farms burn, and the young rulers are stunned by a great loss. Somehow they must find a way to unite their people, and defend their country.
