Brief Author Bio:

Spending three years studying for a degree in Drama and English gave Cheryl’s flourishing interest in literature an eclectic boost. After the timely realisation that her skills as an actress were, to put it politely, non-existent, she decided that writing was the way to go.

With a varied list of previous occupations behind her, from ballet dancing and teaching to working in a scrap yard, she certainly has plenty to write about.

Her love of history led to a hobby in historical re-enactment. Having gone from early Medieval right through to World War 2, she has been somewhat of a time traveller, too.

But for now, she is a wife, mother and jewellery designer with an avid interest in antiques and history of all eras and a burning desire to learn about pretty much anything that comes her way. She wishes she had more time to write (and read) and snatching a few moments here and there is an interesting addition to the exciting challenges she faces as a new parent.

For Cheryl, writing isn’t just about expressing one’s emotions, it’s about musicality and pushing the boundaries of the language we are used to. She writes due to a compulsion to experiment with the richness of the English language and to find out more about the effects words can have on the way people think.

Synopsis: Uninvited Legacy

When Jane can't stop thinking about Sebastian, the mysterious man who saved her from a terrorist attack days before, she is terrified and relieved when he shows up at her house in the middle of the night, kills her husband and abducts her.
He tells her she has a destiny to fulfill and though she had no idea about the world he leads her into, things start falling into place as she learns about the family legacy that was buried and lost.
But can she come to terms with the loss of her old life and the weight of what she discovers and will the growing chemistry between her and Sebastian stand in the way of the purpose she must serve?

Excerpt: Uninvited Legacy

Sebastian lay looking up at the sky. The cloudless expanse of bright blue disguised the cold autumnal air. He felt cold inside and out but imagined the warmth of a summer day. Pure silence reaffirmed his situation. He could no longer hear the birds chirruping.
Pellqu had managed to turn the pistol around and forced Sebastian to pull the trigger. The bullet hit Sebastian’s abdomen. He knew he had to move but the loss of blood made him so weak, he could not. He did not know where Pellqu had gone. He knew the Ghakszaw was wounded in the struggle when Sebastian managed to get his knife out and slash through Pellqu’s flesh, but he did not know where. It was his throat or his arm, Sebastian could not be sure which in the confusion. But it did not matter now. He was not going to make it, he knew that. He thought about Jane, wondered whether she could even ride a motorbike. He cursed himself for not thinking to tell her where he had hidden the car. Pellqu would surely go after her. He had failed.
He closed his eyes and let the familiar wave of peace wash over him. With the last bit of strength he had left, he put the pain out of his mind and replaced it with the memory of Jane’s fingers caressing his skin. In his mind, he whispered her name.
She answered. “Sebastian. Oh God, Sebastian, what the hell did he do to you? Shit. Please wake up. Please.” That voice was real. He was not imagining it. He opened his eyes. Her face swam before him, tears dropping from her eyes, landing on his cheeks.
He saw her face change and a sense of urgency in her as she wiped the tears away and squeezed his hand. “Sebastian. God, I thought you were dead.” She kissed his lips. “I love you so much.”
His mouth felt dry. His breath weakened and for a second, he lost his vision. He tried to speak but his mouth was too sticky. “Don’t try to speak. I…” she faltered. “I don’t know what to do. I lost the car, I can’t ride a bike.” The tears spilled out of Jane’s eyes again. He faded in and out, gradually losing sight of her face. He fought to speak.
“Jane. I took the car.”
