'I'm not scared, just worried.'

'Just worried.' Tim snickered. 'It's our mother. How can you be just worried?'
'Because I am. I don't fear for Kate and neither should you.'

Maybe it was cold of Anthony to say, but it was true and what could he do. His eyes remained on the road. A sharp turn made him tense.

Tim turned down the music, the Beatles were very excited about returning to communist Russia and were being a tad noisy about it.

'I don't like calling her Kate,' Tim murmured, and he sounded like a ten-year-old all over again, no stars in his eyes, no lullaby in his ear, no football under his arm.

'Call her mum and I'll see you in the afterlife.' Anthony sketched a vague salute, just for the comic value. Tim didn't laugh at all.
