Excerpt: How Did You Get Here?

So; I should start by introducing myself… my name is Demetri. Not a particularly interesting name but all the same it’s mine. I would like to say that my life is uneventful and fun and enjoyable… I’d be lying but I’d like to say it anyway; my life is uneventful, fun, and enjoyable. There I said it; I lied but I said it… I am getting off point now though.
I go to College in my town and I have friends all around me… Best friends Mari, Shane, and Beat. A buddy I’ve known forever named Korin. There is also Grim, Garret, Lyam. I know Sylvia, Sandra and Edward. I have also been friends with Bob for a few years as well… Well he was kinda a nice guy and a blonde too. Well, you don’t have to know too much about him… never mind why.
I can’t forget to mention Dylen, Daryel, Kyle, Nathan and Sue…. There’s Zoe, Mary, and Sorin. Then there is Jackie, Jill, Quinn D., Quinn B. and lastly Sillis… And so those are my friends. Wasn’t that a trip? We got to meet them all. I guess I’ll tell you more about each one… First up is Mari.
Mari was a good friend of mine; my best friend in the world. She is a great girl to be around and always pushing me to be a better version of myself. She has brown hair, blue eyes, a perky smile and even perkier bosoms. She has wit that cuts like acid and a family that would just as quickly throw you in acid should you cross them. This was probably a bad sign but I didn’t care.
We went to classes and even stayed in the same co-ed dorm. She had her faults; whenever she pissed me off I allowed her to live when she brought me candy. This was our arrangement… Strangely we had fun talking about all kinds of things ranging from every day to… how long will it take my neighbor to cum when we hear them next door…. It was disgusting to me but I really didn’t care.
Our school schedule was going to be lax for a while but… that was about the only thing that was going to be easy; it began on a day like any other when Mari ran into my room and gave me the news… she was frantic and upset about the whole thing and after I hit her a few times she finally calmed down and started to spit out what she had to report.
“It’s IT’S!” She said between tears.
“What is it?” I asked shaking her seeing that she was pretty much losing it.
“BOB- he’s gone!”
“Where did he go?” I asked knowing that she had been dating Bob a Few weeks.
“HE HE….” She began crying again- I wasn’t sure what to do but she continued after sobbing “HE’s DEAD DEMETRI- HE JUST DIED!”
I was shocked… I didn’t know what to say. Bob… OUR Bob… he died. I had tons of questions to ask- I had to know how he died. He just up and died…. The motherfucker just died! I couldn’t understand myself what was going on but suddenly she hugged me. I comforted her as best I could… I had only one question to ask; how did he die? It was a simple question but it was one that was not so simple to answer.
She spoke slowly but with intent to explain.
“He woke up… and… He he… He walked over to the shower… and he turned the shower on….” She sobbed and choked on her words…. She finally began again trying to compose herself more. “When he walked out… they say he stepped on a bar of soap and fell out of the open window….”
I was confused for a moment and had to question
“He lives on the first floor”
“I’m not finished!” She yelled between sobs…. “It…. It….”
“What is it?”
“When when…. When he tried to get up he…”
“TELL ME WOMAN!”
“An air conditioner fell down on him and crushed his body!” She kept crying…. She had lost it.

Apparently; they were servicing the AC units on the roof of the dorm room. The school had decided to replace them since they were a few years old and getting more expensive to repair; So they hired a crew to replace them… now they had corded off the area; and before throwing off the unit they looked around… how could they know that some guy would fall out of his dorm window and be directly under an AC unit as they tossed it off huh?
So no charges were brought against the crew; although the school did refund the family’s money for the term. The AC company also discounted the remaining work. This was a tragedy yes… but the audacity of the whole situation was unbelievable. It wasn’t so much unfortunate as it was unlikely.
