Kim turned her ear towards the muffled noise she heard coming from the front of the house. Throwing the tea-towel over her shoulder she walked into the passage and towards the front door, the noise growing louder all the time. She heard her husband’s muffled swearing coming from the veranda as she opened the door.

The bulb had blown and the only light came from behind her, showing her husband seemingly wrestling with air. He’d only been at the pub for just over an hour so she doubted alcohol to be the cause. She leant her hip against the doorframe, “What are you doing?”
“Quick! Get it off!” His voice was pitched high with fear.
