“Take this… and this.”
He handed her a slender gun, snatching it back off her and attaching it to her belt when she just stared at him in confusion. “We were under attack by an Accord frigate. Two more Accord ships turned up and engaged the first. Now, a ship has docked with ours and we don’t know if they’re friend or enemy. So we’ll be prepared – just in case." He looked up from securing the gun to her belt. "Brill thinks they’re all right; he seemed to recognise the ships anyway - in a good way," he said at her suddenly panicked expression. "So they could be the escorts we’ve been waiting for." He gave her a solemn look. "But I want you armed just in case they’re some kind of decoy.”
