Synopsis: Tagestraum

Adrian Montgomery, a child-psychologist with an abusive past, cares about all his patients -- but he's closest to Nathaniel Weaver, a bright young boy whose troubled home life is a haunting echo of Adrian's own childhood. Nathaniel begins to tell Adrian disturbing things: how his imaginary friends have started to become cruel and insistent, and how sometimes when Nathaniel is visiting his make-believe world, he has a hard time coming back.

One night, Nathaniel goes missing, gone from his bed with no evidence suggesting his whereabouts. While the community is thrown into action searching for a possible runaway, kidnapping, or murder, Adrian is visited by a mysterious figure who tells him she is a liaison from another world -- the world responsible for Nathaniel's disappearance -- and that Adrian must come quickly or Nathaniel will be lost forever.

Adrian follows this enigmatic girl through the threshold of a new reality, emerging in Tagestraum-- a realm built from the fantasies of children. As long as there has been imagination, this world has existed, a place for children to escape the confines of their own lives. Recently, however, Tagestraum has been thrown into chaos; suffering from corruption caused by the violent imaginations and fears of abused or unhappy children, the world has shut off its gateways in a desperate attempt to keep out the threat. Instead, Tagestraum has inadvertantly locked the children inside with a monster, and only when the gateways are restored and the monster vanquished will the children -- and Adrian -- be free to return to reality.

Adrian strikes out on a quest to restore the gateways and confront the wicked new tyrant of Tagestraum in order to restore order and rescue Nathaniel . Along the way, he is aided by numerous denizens of the fantasy world as he faces challenges that force him to face and overcome his own darkest memories.
