Brief Author Bio:

I'm a high school senior who loves to read and write fantasy novels, most of which contain unique alternate worlds. Because of my deep interest in magic, I love to add such features to my works in varying degrees of complexity. Alternate universe fantasy and dark urban fantasy (usually coupled with dystopia) are my favorite types of fantasy to write. I have a tendency to make technology short out around me, so writing on the computer can be difficult at times. It's crashed multiple times in the past year, causing my progress to be severely slowed. It kind of really sucks.
But hey, that's life, right?

Synopsis: Synchronicity

In the afterlife exists what is simply known to its members as The Order, a bureau of agents - both willing and unwilling - with several goals depending on their rank. There are the Watchers, who are directed by those in Assignment, Judgment, and the Record Keepers. Their job is to make sure that the karma of their targets is balanced. That is to say, they make people's lives better or worse based on the task given. If they fail, the target may have their next life delayed or their judgment may be more severe. But if your karma is too far out of whack, you have to work with The Order to work it off.
So where does that leave Alexei? The Order has been trying to fixing his case for years but to no avail. A seeming karmic black hole, now Cecil and his team are trying. But when the Reapers get involved, is it too late or is there still hope of saving Alexei from being tied to The Order forever?

Kind of a bittersweet story, there's love and tragedy and sarcastic humor all bundled into an urban fantasy setting. Whether things turn out well in the end is entirely up to the reader's perspective.

Excerpt: Synchronicity

An excerpt from a scene with Cyril, a Reaper:
There was a knock on his door. He ignored it. The knock came again, more insistent. He shouted to let them know he was inside, but made no move to open the door. He would get drunk tonight if it meant emptying the whole damn bottle.
In stepped a man with short hair, slicked back, a relaxed smile adorning his face. He didn’t seem the least bit bothered by Cyril’s attempted inebriation. “Good evening. How did it go?”
He put his head down on the desk. “How did you know I was back?” complained Cyril, groaning. “Of course you knew. You’re a Record Keeper – you guys know everything.”
The cheerful man nodded. “That’s basically how it goes. So are you going to tell me or are you going to drink yourself silly?”
“Drink myself silly,” he replied, sitting up enough to drink the alcohol without spilling it. “I didn’t learn anything tonight, Olli. Go away.”
“Nothing? Then why did you come back?”
“Because if I didn’t, Cecil and Rok would have found me out. And if I recall, a certain superior of mine demanded that I hide myself and not get caught or else.” Replacing the top to the bottle, Cyril gave up with his drinking for the moment. He knew that Olli didn’t care if he got drunk while he was in the office, but he didn’t want to be talking to him about a mission when that happened. It may take a lot to get him drunk, but there was no telling what he’d say once he was.
Olli nodded again. “That would have been a problem, yes.” Standing in front of the desk, he looked down at the paper. “Sorry there wasn’t much information. It was misfiled, so there are facts missing that we’re still trying to find. We have them somewhere, but where exactly is a very good question.” After a few minutes of strained silence, Olli let on no hint of his patience wavering. He stood with the same calm expression, waiting for Cyril to speak, knowing he wasn’t about to. “Well, I believe I’ll take my leave. I hope your hangover isn’t too terrible in the morning. After you follow Alexei – and I expect you to find a way to do that without being found – you have work, don’t you?” Cyril groaned again and Olli chuckled, leaving without another word.
Taking up the bottle again, Cyril drank deeply. To hell with work.
