Non-noveling interests: I've written one novel before, and I'm tending toward the same genre this time 'round. I guess it would be under chick lit, but it's about violence against women and travel all put together.

an excerpt
This was their first stop in New Orleans. They’d barely gotten off the expressway and gotten lost on a few left turns before they found the chapel. Friends had warned them about the crazy crescent-shaped city, where the streets were hardly the navigable grid like Chicago’s. To exacerbate driving problems, street signs were down and lights still weren’t working even 6 months after the storm. Refrigerators and people’s junk still littered every front yard and some of the streets.
