This is what it must feel like to die. Darkness overwhelmed her senses and began dragging her down to its depths. Her chest was being compressed and her breathing shallow. She gasped and clawed out with her arms to no avail. She continued to slip into an unknown darkness where all remained unfamiliar. Unable to comprehend up from down, beginning from end, her mind tumbled over thoughts. A sound in the depths caught her attention. She held her painful breath and listened with all her might. There it was again, a clicking sound. Almost a scraping noise coming from next to her, or was it above? Her heart began to pound and she gasped, feeling her chest pulsate with its erratic beating. Harder and harder her heart pounded until what thoughts she was capable of centered on the thought that death must be imminent. As the darkness began its death walk across her body, she could have sworn she felt something leathery flap against her face….
