Synopsis: Mandragora
Characters:
Dev (Devin)- A high school student from who saves a dog and becomes guitarist and lead singer in a band that goes on to become an international hit. He loses a friend and gains new ones he never knew he wanted. His band performs a concert that preempts the season finale of Fantastic Journey.
Margarie F Plimpton- A 30-something who still works at the Party Palace that her parents founded in Anchorage, Alaska. Is overweight and has no enthusiasm for anything. Becomes a huge fan of Fantastic Journey after she spends some time in a hospital, where she meets and befriends a woman named Lynette, which turns her life around.
Paul- A middle aged man who works in a cubical for TechnoCo. Created the HARVEY computer in his spare time, the rights to which was bought for $700 by the company he works with. Becomes a huge fan of the band Dev is in, which prompts him to quit his job and go into music. He is not very good at it, but enjoys it.
Leonard and Harvey- A rich entrepreneur and founder of TechnoCo, among other things. Flies around the world in a hot air balloon to escape the public eye after being accused of killing his former business partner and girlfriend and college roomate, which he probably didn't do. He stole Harvey, a talking computer, from TechnoCo's prototypes lab. Eventually owns the rights to Fantastic Journey.
Laura and Jazz- The star/narrator and cameraman, respectively, of the hit television travel show Fantastic Journey. Married for five years, divorced after their show was canceled. Jazz is still in love with Laura, maybe. She's something of a jerk off camera. He's a little spineless. They get another chance after their show is revived and donated a balloon.
The Narrator- Dead, cynical, unnamed, and highly amused by all of this.

Leonard laughed. “Oh, I'm sure that won't be a problem. I'd like to fund it. Bring it back.”
“We simply can't! We've made a decision, and we're-”
“Mr. Waverly.” Leonard smiled calmly. “You do know who you are speaking with, I presume?”
Harvey was at liberty to answer that. “Mr. Leonard Humbolt, American businessman, net worth estimated at $15.5 billion.”
“Oh, has it gone up?” Leonard mused, interrupting it. “The toothpaste company must be doing well.”
