Brief Author Bio:

I am a fairly young writer from some whereabouts in Northern Mississippi. My favorite topics to write about typically lie in either the fantasy genre or in general philosophy. I admit to an extreme lack of knowledge and experience in the wondrous realm of creative writing and thought. Despite myself, I wish to keep an open mind to anything and everything as a means of attaining further knowledge of this craft to assist in the betterment of my writing skills. My goal for this year's NaNoWriMo is 101,000 words (because that extra 1,000 makes all the difference).

Synopsis: Divine Awakening

What if the world we lived in was merely a fantastical dream hidden deep within the confines of a higher consciousness? Then what would become of our existence if that awareness became corrupted by an outer force beyond our understanding? The land of Aridrian is such a place. An entire world created by the unconscious dreams of a select few, chosen by fate, yet slowly consumed by an exterior motif. The powers that the muses possess are extraordinary. They are always watching, patiently waiting for their time to attain absolute control.

Excerpt: Divine Awakening

"When she went back to sit with her ailed companion, she heard something moving in the woods that made the ground rumble beneath them. It sounded like the prancing footsteps of unicorns approaching their poor excuse for a camp. They glided over the earth with a grace that seemed to exercise no form of effort as they came nearer. Selene could scarcely see small figures clad entirely in green riding upon the four-legged mystics. They were upon them in what seemed like no time at all and halted their silver haired steeds immediately, hopping off of them with solemn expressions scarcely spotted through the veil of their hoods. They had short glaring blades withdrawn and closed in on her, as well as the man who was still lying asleep next to the fire.
They made no hesitation in abducting the both of them by pulling sheets of fabric over their heads and tightly bounding their hands behind both of their backs. Selene made a futile attempt at struggling which simply resulted in a bright red colored blade being held firmly to her throat. Her protest was silenced instantly at that. Hathel wasn’t really given an opportunity to resist, he was pretty much bagged in a matter of seconds and lifted off the ground to where Selene assumed was the back of one of the mystics. That was the last thing she could see before her eyes were covered. The only thing she could sense now was being lifted from the ground and being forced to straddle one of the beasts with her weight supported by the backs of one of the shrouded folk."

Excerpts from the Lost Aridrian Prophecies:

“Refuse not to write of the occurrences happening in one’s nightly dreaming state. To lie in Reverence is to lie the closest to our gods above; our only true mothers and fathers. They speak to us through the deepest confines of our minds, in the places we dare not move to tread upon in our consciousness. To be enlightened is to follow the examples given to us from the divine, and therefore we must cherish our inner muse, lest we die mercilessly in the most torturous of nightmares. They seek only our companionship and the use of our skills and minds to express their wills for all to see and to enjoy. To refuse doing as such is to anger the muse, and therefore to anger our gods. Failing to mention all those others who fell into darkness so long ago, their errors serve as a living testament to the true living wills contained of our imaginations. They are each one of their own, and deserve to be considered in all we may pursue through our own minute existences.”

"I can see them. They approach from the darkness. They’ve waited long and hunger for their spirits. Oh how great their lusting hunger for us. Their approach cannot be stopped. As creatures from the realm beyond this one comprised of dreamers, our worldly crafts and makings cannot deny their coming. They shall cleanse the land and reclaim their penance deserving of them. Only the will of the great awakeners may stead their approach. Woe, may the sirens beckon the next forthcoming. For only then can we possibly be saved from this looming state of impending horror."

The winds were blowing very hard and coaxing the trees into a thrashing frenzy as the Cindrels made their passing from the Southernmost lands. There was a great calling from the Faitria Lord which was beckoning them to war that could not go unheard by any sense in this dreaming world. This was not just any war either, but one of the greatest wars that anyone would ever witness. The Cindrel clans to the far north were gathering whilst much malice stirred in the dismal land of Poissure. Even the dreamers were beginning to sense the chaos as their lives became tenfold as demanding and their reverence grew more and more frightening with each passing night. Even the most powerful leaders of the Elfin were beginning to gather their own for council. The time for the great awakening was now upon them and there was nothing that anyone could do to stop its inevitable coming.
