Excerpt:
On a jet of gray, shape rock three sisters stood watching the sea. Dark clouds loomed above. The sea crashed upon the rocky shore, sent a spray upwards to the sisters perch. Wind whipped their dark hair into tangles of curls.
The oldest sister held tight to the hand of the smallest. Cold white hands knotted in pale fingers. The eldest stood with legs parted, chin jutted out, jaw clenched, eyes on nothing but the dark horizon. The middle sister shifted her weight, steel gray eyes glancing about the sea, the horizon, the rocky shore. She peeked a glance at her older sister, and then gazed down to her younger sister beside her, dresses flapping against each other in the wind, neither touching though.
The youngest sister looked a nothing but the roaring waves, white crest of angry green sea. Blue veins shown through deathly white skin. Seaweed clung in her tangled dark curls. Her eyes were midnight black, no pupil seen. A tight smile held to her blue lips.
“We made the right choice,” the eldest, Helena, said. “We made the only choice.”
Wary eyes on their younger sister, the middle sister, Lucile, nodded, frown on her pink flushed face. “Sure. Sure.”
Gaze still glued to the sea, the youngest, Edwardina, smiled wider. “You chose wisely.”
Helena clung tighter to her sisters cold, clamy hand. Lucile shifted away, arms hugging her chilled body.
“Wisely,” Edwardina whispered through blue lips, the words flowing in the salty wind.
