Alex paused, wringing her fingers together nervously as she prepared herself for what she was going to say next. “It’s Alex,” she said softly.
“What?” asked Peter, “What is Alex? Or, I guess, who is Alex, if we’re being grammatically correct here.”
“I’m Alex,” she said, “You can call me Alex. Not Hawkeye. Well, really you can call me either.”
Peter looked at her in surprise, stunned by what she had just revealed. He bowed his head to her. “Thank you.”
