The Everyman
an excerpt

Prolog

Listen my son, I wish to tell you of your father. You never knew him, for he passed on before you were born; but it time for you to know him now. For you are the one that the prophesy speaks of. It is you that, according to our wise men and women, we Sein have been waiting for all these long years. You, my child, will be the bridge between our two worlds, the world of the Sein and the world of the humans. You will be the strongest of us, belonging to both worlds with the strength and power of both, and none of the limits. You will reflect the best of your mother, and your father and it is him I would speak of.
My son, as you grow and become what you are destined to be, you must never forget your father. For while people around you will make much of your connection to the Sein and your mother, it was your father who truly believed in you and gave everything he could to bring you into the world.
So I wish to tell you of your father, David Scott Franklin. The first thing you should know of your father is that he was not a man of fate. Destiny had no special place for him. He was not counted among the wise or the mighty. He was not especially brave or bold. He was not exceedingly hansom or gifted with words. He was in fact a rather ordinary man. He was the same as everyone around him, with the same faults and gifts, and it is that above all that you should remember; that even an ordinary man can cause the extraordinary and change the fates of the worlds of the Sein and Men.
My tale of how your father and I met, the tale of where you come from, starts on a fall day, in the city of Sierra Crest in Nevada.
